According to Police Inspector C L Patil, the accused along with his minor sister-in-law went to Ponda police station on Thursday morning to register a complaint against her mother and one person for their illicit relationship and that her minor daughter (his sister in law) was not willing to stay with her mother.
“While going through the complaint, police suspected something fishy in the complaint and after conducting an inquiry, the minor girl in the presence of NGO revealed that the accused and his brother and a friend had kidnapped her from the custody of her mother and had threatened to kill her,” police informed.
“The girl further disclosed that the accused kept her at his residence on August 26,” added police.
Police informed that the accused’s wife had gone to their native place at Uttar Pradesh.
When his wife was away, the accused used to bring his sister-in-law to his residence to do household work, which she was not ready to do, police stated.
“The accused, with an intention to keep the minor girl with him, planned to kidnap her on August 26 and lodged a police complaint against the victim’s mother and the person in whose house they were residing by making up a false story that the victim’s mother and some person were having an illicit relation.
Police said the accused threatened the girl that if she did not lodge the complaint as per his wish, then he would kill her. The three accused have been arrested and the police are investigating the case.
