PANJIM: A day after the State recorded its highest single day COVID-19 death; three persons succumbed on Saturday while one person died during the late hours of Friday, August 21. Another death of a 65-year-old male from Aquem was reported on August 19, news of which was released in the Health Bulletin on Saturday, August 22.
As per the Health Bulletin by the Directorate of Health Services, 71-year-old male from Fatorda was brought dead to South Goa District Hospital at Margao on Friday. His post mortem test results showed him positive for COVID-19 whereas 65-year-old admitted at Goa Medical College died on August 19.
The three deaths on Saturday included 85-year-old male from Betalbatim, 30-year-old male from Margao and 78-year-old male from Pernem. The two elderly patients had co-morbid conditions.
The State also recorded 306 positive cases and 479 recoveries on a single day on Saturday.
The total tally of deaths has increased to 140 while the count of total confirmed cases stands at 13,790; Active cases are 3,631 and total recovered patients count has crossed 10,000 mark as recoveries are 10,019.
A total of 128 positive persons on Saturday opted for Home Isolation whereas 77 suspects are in Hospital Isolation. Thirteen inter state travellers opted for home isolation.
The Margao urban health centre has the highest 483 cases while Vasco UHC has 314 followed by 230 cases at Ponda primary health centre. The cases at Chimbel PHC has reduced to 1919 from 207 till Friday and Porvorim PHC reported increase to 207 cases whereas 184 cases are reported at Panjim UHC. Bicholim community health centre has the least 14 cases while PErnem CHC has 138 cases.
The report further states that 21 persons are Quarantined across various Residencies/hotels and 341 reports are awaiting results.
