The premises located in the Casa Dos Alia Dos building behind the Gomant Vidya Niketan building got totally engulfed in flames and later enveloped the South Indian Bank, Margao branch which is beside the shop.
At least three other shops were destroyed completely in the fire. The bank premises was the biggest loser in the fire wherein 3 out of 4 shops of the bank were totally gutted in the fire.
The Fire Station informed that the fire broke out at 9.36 pm and by the time their truck reached the site the fire had reached to uncontrollable limits. The personnel, with tow fire tenders, finally managed to douse the fire after 40 minutes of toil. The loss in the fire couldn’t be estimated. However, as a bank is involved in the fire incident the losses are feared to be enormous.
