MARGAO: A panch witness in the sensational 2001 fake cricket ticket case Pappu Chari on Thursday deposed before JMFC.
During his examination, Chari identified the gate passes attached from the office of G Bhisse, Fatorda and other material before the court. The court has now posted the matter for hearing on November 28.
It may be recalled that Ticketgate scam had rocked the state on April 6, 2001, during the India-Australia ODI with a case registered against nine accused including then Goa Cricket Association chief Dayanand Narvekar and incumbent president Vinod Phadke. Margao police had charged Narvekar, Ramshankar Das and Vinod Phadke for allegedly entering into criminal conspiracy with the ticket contractor, Chinmay Fallari for sale of tickets by manipulation in the tender for consideration of Rs 68 lakh.
The police alleged that Eknath Naik, brother in law of Narvekar, sold tickets for higher premium to the public and cheated them. The other accused are Ramashankar Das , Devdutt Fallari, Gajanan Bhise, Joaquim Pires and Venkat R Dessai.
