PANJIM, MAY 22
Apparently under pressure from the Centre, the Forest Department detained two persons on Friday in connection with the alleged tiger killing case reported in Sattari more than a month ago.
Both the persons are from Keri, from and around Majik waddo, sources said.
Last month one person was arrested but allegedly due to some political intervention, the case was not pursued very strongly. A probe was instituted and it looked like they would zero in on the poachers. But due to lack of evidence, there was no breakthrough in the case.
Following media reports, the Central Tiger Conservation Authority, has written to the Goa government to take the matter seriously. It has asked the Forest Department to file a reply on the investigation in the next 15 days.
