Timings of schools at Cujira changed to streamline traffic

Rosary High School, Mustifund will begin classes at 8 am, Dempo and Hedgewar shall begin at 7.45 am; Buses will drop students at the entry while Balraths will be allowed into the school premises

PORVORIM: In order to put an end to the traffic congestion that takes place every morning at the Cujira Integrated School Complex at Bambolim, the Directorate of Education (DoE) on Thursday decided to change the school timings.
The decision to alter the school timings was taken at a meeting on Thursday which was attended by DoE officials, Cujira education institutions heads and DySP (Traffic) in which it was concluded that Rosary High School along with Mustifund will begin classes at 8 am while Dempo and Hedgewar shall begin classes at 7.45 am.
Speaking to the media, Education Director, G P Bhat said, “Persons who bring their own vehicles, that are the staff of the schools and HSS, shall be allowed to park their vehicles in their own school premises or the SAG ground, if anyone parks on the road from Monday onwards, traffic cell will clamp those vehicles. I request all the institutions to cooperate in this matter because we have made the adjustment in such a way that the time is spread over half an hour.” Further it was decided that buses which come to the Cujira Integrated School Complex will drop students at the entry level while Balrath buses will be allowed direct enter into the school premises.
“We have made these arrangements so that all the students are not inconvenienced and to put an end to the traffic congestion at the educational complex. Accordingly we have also informed the heads of the institutions,” Bhat said.
Asked about the ring road construction at the educational complex which would further reduce the traffic congestion, Bhat said, “Ring road work is going on and within 15 days the work shall be completed and once it is completed there will be smooth flow of traffic of vehicles.”
The start of the academic year led to a traffic gridlock at the school complex due to a single entry and exit after which Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar asked the school managements to work out different timings in order to avoid the traffic congestion that takes place every morning.
