PONDA: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Friday said that Tiswadi, Ponda and part of Dharbandora Taluka will not face water crisis this summer as OPA Water Treatment Plant has sufficient storage of water in its bandaras in OPA River.

He said, “There are several bandaras stored with water and we are releasing water from them as and when need arises. After commissioning 27 MLD Plant OPA Treatment Plant, the water treatment capacity has increased from existing 140 MLD to 170 MLD per day.”

“Of the total 170 MLD water treated daily at OPA Treatment Plant around 48 MLD water is supplied to it through Ganjem Usgao bandara while 40 MLD water is supplied from Salaulim Dam which pours its water into Kallem River that flows down to OPA. There are many bandaras full of water. If need arises then water from the mining pits will be pumped in case of water shortage,” said Pauskar.

“There are around 14 bandaras in OPA River and most of them have full water storage,” said the officials of Department of Water Resources.
