‘Together For Sanquelim’ to move HC over no-trust motion delay

BICHOLIM: ‘Together For Sanquelim’ group led by former chairperson of Sanquelim Municipal Council (SMC) Dharmesh Saglani has decided to approach the High Court over the delay in discussing the no-confidence motion moved against the chairman.

Addressing a press conference here, Saglani said, “We have seven councillors and BJP is delaying the discussion as they know that they may lose power”.

The Saglani-led group had earlier filed no-confidence motion against the chairman, Yeshwant Madkar on March 18 but, the discussion notice was delayed by 43 days.

“This is like murdering democracy and government knows only court language. We will approach the High Court on Monday against this delay” Saglani warned.

“When no-confidence motion was filed against me, the discussion was held within seven days but, now they are taking 43 days which is totally wrong,” he claimed.

After the recent by-election in Ward 9, Saglani-backed Rajendra Ameshkar was declared elected. The group now has seven councillors.
