MARGAO: The Osia Complex in Margao, which houses several key government offices, has once again come under fire due to poor maintenance, causing inconvenience to the hundreds of citizens who visit these offices daily. With toilets in a deplorable state, unreliable elevators, and inadequate parking facilities, the situation has led to growing frustration among the public, who are now calling for the Chief Minister’s immediate intervention.
Mahesh Dattaram Naik, speaking on the issues plaguing the complex, remarked, “The situation here is deteriorating due to a lack of upkeep and maintenance. It is high time that all the government offices be shifted to the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex if the authorities concerned are unable to provide adequate services to the general public.” He was particularly critical of the state of the toilets, which emit a foul odour and add to the discomfort of the visitors.

Several government offices, including the Road Transport Office (RTO), Sales and Commercial Complex, Town and Country Planning, and South Goa Planning and Development Authority are located in the shabby-looking Osia Complex, known for its damp, dingy corridors and stained staircases, all enveloped in the eye-watering stench of urine.
Azim Shaikh highlighted the broader maintenance issues, noting, “The major problem is the elevators. Additionally, the garbage menace and sewage overflow are critical issues that need to be addressed immediately.”
Pratima Coutinho echoed these sentiments, emphasising the impact on senior citizens. “Senior citizens are the most affected by the non-working elevators. Additionally, the Osia Complex faces a problem with a dog menace, which jeopardises the safety of visitors.”
Citizens are now urging the Chief Minister to intervene and resolve these pressing concerns, ensuring that the complex is properly maintained and that essential services are restored to their full functionality.
