Tourism Minister opens ‘Goan Village’ at Sunburn

MAPUSA: Tourism Minister Rohan Kahunte inaugurated the ‘Goan Village’ at the Sunburn Festival, Vagator, on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at the venue, Khaunte said, “Goan DJs, chefs, Goan traditional food and others gets a platform to showcase talent.

“This event gives a universal platform for Goan talent in music, arts and crafts. The performers and crafts get a grand exposure and promotion on social media,” the Tourism Minister.

 “This ‘Goan Village’ was a long-standing dream of the government to present the vast and vibrant heritage, art and culture of Goa to a global audience. Goa has a vast repertoire of local talent who need the right exposure, and the right dedicated stage will create that opportunity alongside celebrated global artistes,” he added

Further, Khaunte informed that with regard to Covid, safety management and law and order, the Chief Minister  has taken meetings and new protocols are laid down and everything will be looked upon.

The ‘Oradh Goemkar Serenaders’, a talented group of global Goan musicians, welcomed the minister and guests, their melodic rendition serving as a fitting tribute to the opening ceremony of this unique ‘Goa Village’.

The Tourism Minister also highlighted the importance of showcasing and promoting the diverse Goan culture on a global platform like Sunburn.  

Giving a boost to the versatile range of music talent from Goa, the inaugural day saw many talented local Goan DJs and bands grace the stage including DJs Tesh, Raj, Sid, Saj Akhtar, Soldier Hill Crew and Saunyk X Sahil NRG.
