PANJIM: A tourist-driven rental car veered out of control and rammed into an electricity pole along the Parra ‘madani’ (coconut lined) road on Friday evening. The impact was so intense that the pole collapsed, resulting in a power outage, shrouding the entire area in darkness.
Allegedly, the tourist was reportedly recording a video while driving, raising concerns about distracted driving as a potential cause of the accident. The collision not only disrupted the power supply but also posed a significant safety hazard in the vicinity.
There is need to caution and warn tourists with signboards, not to shoot videos while driving, so that such accidents do not occur.
