Ponda: The workers from various Industrial estate in Ponda under banner of Ponda Majdoor Ektha took out a huge rally from Bethora to Ponda City protesting and shouting slogans against the anti-labour Policy especially the recently introduced Fixed Term Contract System brought by Central government demanding for the immediate roll back of this anti-labour law which is against the interest of workers brought by government from back door. Raju Mangueshkar said if this new law is implemented by Central Government than workers will not get the benefits such as PF, Bonus, ESI, Pension and permanent jobs at workplace. He expressed fear that future generation will not get fixed jobs and after every one to five years period the jobs will be terminated. Rajan Verenkar another workers leader said before implementation of this policy it should be withdrawn in the interest of future generation who will deprived of all benefits of labour laws.
The workers also protested at Kundaim IDC.
Raju Mangueshkar demanded the curb of rising inflation because of which the common layman has suffered. He also blamed government for demonetization and GST due to which lakhs of employment are lost and youths are facing unemployment. He demanded immediate start of mining in goa.
Raju Mangueshkar said Delhi Industrial workers get minimum monthly salary of Rs 15,700 to their workers, while in Goa the Industrial workers are getting salary of Rs 8500 to Rs 9000. The government policy has led to suffering of workers. He demanded the workers in Goa be given minimum salary of Rs 20,000. He criticised the Goa Government that provides a minimum wage of Rs 300 per day and demanded a hike. He demanded Rs 600 per day be the minimum for unskilled labour. He also demanded amendment to the motor vehicle act made in 2014 and 2017.
