Traffic diversion during BRICS

MARGAO: The Goa Police Traffic division has organised traffic diversion in view of the BRICS-2016 summit scheduled in Goa, from October 14 to 17,

for ensuring obstruction free passage to VVIP carcade. 11 carcades of the 11 leaders of Nations will be passing on the main routes where the routes will be closed temporarily as the carcade passes. 
Thousands of Goa Police staff will be deployed at major junctions to regulate traffic as the carcades pass. Clearing all rumours making rounds in South Goa the Superintendent of Police of South Shekhar Prabhudessai has clarified that none of the establishments like petrol pumps, pharmacies or others will remain close during the summit days. “The routes the carcades of the leaders of the countries will be restricted for vehicular movement at regular intervals and will open back when convoys pass,” he said.
The Notification for No Parking on all roads on which the carcade is supposed to be passing will be issued soon. 
The entire road from Old Market Circle Margao to Green House junction shall be closed for vehicular movement. The motorists should use alternate roads i.e. Benaulim, Khareband, Eastern bypass road, Seraulim-Betalbatim-Majorda road for their onward journey. 
Similarly, Colva-Mobor road will be closed for vehicular movement from Green House junction to Hotel Leela road. The motorists should use alternate route i.e. Sernabatim, Fatrade road and Cavelossim bridge, Orlim bridge towards Chinchinim.
Similarly, there will be no movement of vehicles from Old Anchor Mobor towards Hotel Leela Mobor including route buses. The public is requested to co-operate with the traffic authorities in implementing a safe and obstruction free passage for BRICS delegates.
There will be diversion and holding up of vehicular traffic as under during movement of VVIP carcades along NH-17, NH-17b and other roads of Salcete taluka leading towards venues of BRICS. There will be no movement of heavy vehicular traffic on the roads of Mormugao and Salcete taluka.
As per Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Smt. Suman Goel, all the main roads leading to Hotels like Taj Exotica, Leela and Park Hyatt will be closed for general public during the movement of VVIP Carcade and will be no parking for all types of vehicles from 14/10/2016 to 17/10/2016.
Roads to be avoided are from Dabolim Airport/ INS Hansa to Leela Hotel Mobor, from Cansaulim Verna Bypass to Hotel Park Hyatt-Arossim, from junction near Shop & Save Super Market to Hotel Taj Exotica-Benaulim;  from Main Gate of Hotel Leela-Mobor to Last Bus Stop-Mobor via Italia Restaurant and from main Gate of Hotel Leela towards Mobor Beach road (except Carcade).
The preferred alternate roads for public are Queeny Nagar Junction to Cansaulim Market, Dolio Service Station, Mungul to Voltar Benaulim (Voddlebhat) via Khareband (internal village road) Main route on 17/10/2016, Orlim Four Road Junction to Chinchinim Junction (internal village road), From Cavelossim Bridge to Chinchinim via Assolna, Orlim.
All motorists particularly from Mormugao/Salcete Taluka should avoid NH-17 B/NH-17 from Titan Junction to Old Market Circle Margao and above said routes.
The vehicles coming from Panjim side, proceeding towards Margao should take diversion at Cortalim Circle and proceed via Racaim-Loutolim road/ State Highway-5 towards Margao/vice versa. Motorists from Margao city are requested to avoid Old Market circle and NH-17 road and use alternate road i.e. Holy Spirit Gogal road, Eastern Bypass etc.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabodh Shirvoikar has also urged the owners of cattle not to bring their animals on to the roads during these days.
Meanwhile the rehearsals of carcades continued on Wednesday till late evening.
