Traffic on KRC route interrupted, restored later

PANJIM: Rail traffic on the Konkan Railway route resumed on Monday night following issuing of track fit certificate. The traffic on Konkan Railway route was interrupted due to continuous heavy rain and ingress of water/slush in Old Goa Tunnel between Karmali and Thivim station on early Monday morning.

This had caused the diversion of several trains during the day as the route was closed for the repair work.

Traffic on Konkan Railway route resumed on Monday night after completion of work inside the Old Goa tunnel.

“The rout was interrupted due to heavy rains and ingress of water in the tunnel since Monday morning,” said KRCL’s Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Baban Ghatge.

“The repair work that began in the morning itself is almost completed”, he said adding that trains will be restored after issuing of the track fit certificate.

Earlier, the trains were diverted on other routes, according to Ghatge.
