Traffic on NH17 at Porvorim suffers wrath of FORCE

PORVORIM: Members of the Parent Teachers Association of Candolim and members of the Forum for Rights of Children to Education (FORCE) numbering around 400 blocked vehicular traffic on Friday morning at O’Coqueiro junction on the issue of grants to English medium schools thereby causing inconvenience to the general public, especially office-goers.

They blocked the traffic at 9.15 am and soon there was a serpentine queue of vehicles on both sides of the road. On receipt of the information, Porvorim police rushed to the spot and tried to request the agitators to clear the road as some ambulances carrying patients to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim were stuck and patients needed urgent medical attention. Finally at around 10 am, police succeeded in clearing the traffic .However, there was heavy traffic near Sai Service before the Mandovi bridges. The police had a tough time to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
