Ask the traffic police for the delay in putting the accident prone Nuvem traffic junction in place and do not be surprised to find accusing fingers being pointed out at the PWD and other authorities for the inordinate delay. That the authorities are taking their own time to design and execute the traffic junction sounds surprising given the messy situation around, more so after the commissioning of the Nuvem bypass. No doubt, one often finds a posse of traffic police manning the Nuvem traffic junction, but the cops seemed more occupied with issuing challans for the traffic violators than regulating the traffic flow.
A senior traffic police official said that the PWD as well as the district authorities had in the past inspected the Nuvem traffic junction, but what has been put in place are a couple of traffic poles to regulate the traffic flow.
