VASCO: The Vasco- Velankani- Yesvantpur train was delayed by nearly five hours on Monday causing a major headache to the passengers.
The train, which was to depart from Vasco at 9 pm, arrived at the platform at 1.40 pm. Such a long delay was unbearable for those onboard.
As per sources many passengers from Vasco, Margao and even from Sanvordem railway station were stranded for with no idea as to why the train was delayed and it put all their plans post arrival in Vailankanni in disarray.
When asked about the delay, officials from South Western Railway said that it was due to the late arrival of the pairing train 17309 Yesvantpur Vasco da Gama Express, which caused the problems. The train left Yesvantpur four and half hours after its scheduled time and reached Vasco five and a half hours post its expected arrival time.
Officials said that the train tends to get delayed due to ‘operational purposes.’
