While Vigilance Department issued the suspension order of assistant director of transport Uday Gauns, he being a gazetted officer; the Transport Department suspended Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Vaman Umbrascar. The suspensions came soon after government approval.
ACB sleuths had arrested Gauns and Umbrascar while accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 from Rajiv Singh on Tuesday.
They were remanded to two days police custody with the local court extending their remand period by another three days. Their residencies and offices were searched by the investigating team for collecting further evidence.
