PANJIM: The transporters in the State have come together to form a new regional political party that will make its debut ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2014.
The party will have blessings from Gandhian Anna Hazare and will work on the interpretation of Goa’s first Chief Minister Bhausaheb Bandodkar’s concept of equality, All Goa Private Bus Owners Association general secretary Sudip Tamankar told media today.
The constitution of the party is being framed and by December 20 it will get registered officially, he said.
Tamankar said that the new party would be a common man’s party, which will provide a platform to people right from unemployed youth to the highly qualified educationists. “The party will see participation of transporters, lawyers, doctors, students and educated unemployed youth,” he added.
It’s also a platform for those non-corrupt government servants, who are forced to work as per the wishes of the high command, he said adding that the party model lays stress on self governance, community building and decentralisation.
The former Congressman claimed that his party has received support from 10 MLAs from BJP, Congress and Opposition. “People are frustrated with both-Congress and BJP and now are looking for a party that will hear and act on the issues related to the common man,” he said.
