CANACONA: A huge jackfruit tree fell on a house at Velipwada, Karvem damaging a major portion of the house. The occupants escaped unhurt as they were in rooms not damaged.
The fire office at Canacona received a call at 10.30 Friday morning that a huge jackfruit tree had fallen on a house belonging to G Velip at Velipwada, Karvem at Canacona. It took almost two hours for Tulshidas Desai and his team to clear the tree from the top of the house. The operation was done under the observation of officer in-charge Mahadev Lolienkar.
Sources at the fire office told Herald the loss could be estimated at around Rs 30,000.
