VALPOI: North Goa Tipper Trucks Association (NGTTA) has demanded to resume mining activities as soon as possible, as many people in the State are badly affected due to its closure since September 2012.
Addressing a news conference in Valpoi, NGTTA President Mahesh Gawas, Vice President Suresh Dessai and members Yeshwant Dessai and Shyam Khauntankar expressed satisfaction over the schemes or packages being given to the affected people, but said they would have been more happy if mining activities commenced soon so that they could work sincerely and earned money instead of depending on government schemes without rendering any work.
Gawas said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has assured NGTTA that he will settle the problems of truck owners related to relaxation in payment of interest on loans to the banks or financial institutions by August 15.
The NGTTA has appealed all 4,600 affected trucks owners to submit all relevant documents to the president in the NGTTA office at Pali-Sanquelim before August 12.
