SALIGAO: Jalisha Tulaskar was re-elected as deputy sarpanch of Sangolda panchayat on Friday after she had tendered her resignation four months ago.
The post had remained vacant since then as no application was received even after two attempts to hold elections on December 20 and January 21.
The third time, the election was held for the post of deputy sarpanch, Tulaskar was forced to file her nomination for the post as it is reserved for women.
The presiding officer informed that three panchas in the seven-member panchayat remained absent.
Premanand Kochrekar proposed the name of Tulaskar and Ulhas Morajkar seconded her name. And since no other application was received, Tulaskar was once again re-elected as the deputy sarpanch of Sangolda.
When asked why she resigned four months ago, Tulaskar said that that she is practicing lawyer and does not have the required time to dedicate for the panchayat.
