PANJIM: A Turk, former commando with the Turkish Army, has been arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs in Arambol. The 47-year-old identified as Murat Tas was caught in possession of 710 grams of MDMA from his rented room in Arambol. The amount of the seized contraband is estimated at around Rs 71 lakh in the international market.
“Tas has confessed that he indulged in drug peddling after his service with the Turkish army. He would carry the drugs whichever country he visited. This is his second trip to India and during this time, he visited Goa too wherein he attended lavish parties. The drug peddling was to maintain his extravagant lifestyle,” SP Shobhit Saxena said.
