Two cops suspended

Two head constables attached to the Crime Branch were today suspended from duty for their alleged links with the prostitution mafia. Sources confirmed that Ulhas Malnekar and Pandu Gawas were suspended in an order by the Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Mangaldas Desai.
There was, however, no official confirmation on the development till late Saturday night. Sources said that the head constables would strike a deal with those running prostitution rings across the State and outside.
The departmental inquiry will look into whether they demanded or accepted bribes from those in the prostitution market or they themselves were involved in running the illicit business.
