VASCO: Two persons died in separate incidents in Mormugao taluka on Saturday.
According to Railway police, Maruti Gaikwad (20) from New Vaddem died in a train accident near the railway over bridge at Shanti Nagar, Vasco.
The police said Gaikwad, who was employed to work on railway wagons, was walking along the tracks on his way home when a train knocked him down and ran over his legs. He died on the spot.
In the second case, a man was found lying dead near the Thana Junction at Cortalim on Saturday morning in what is believed to have been a hit-and-run incident.
Verna police went to the site and sent the body to Hospicio for an autopsy.
The deceased is believed to have been in his mid-thirties and was found wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans. PSI Anand Shirodkar of Verna Police is investigating.
