MAPUSA: Saligao police have arrested two persons in connection with a mobile theft that took place near Mae De Deus Church, at Saligao, on Wednesday.
Saligao PI informed that upon a complaint from a native of Chhattisgarh that some unknown accused persons had committed theft of his mobile while he and his wife were using the GPS navigator to find a place.
The police registered an offence and started investigating immediately. Accordingly, the duo from West Bengal, who were involved in the theft were traced at Calangute and the mobile was recovered based on the description given by the tourist couple.
The accused were detained and remanded in police custody for three days. It came to light that they were residing at Calangute. A case has been registered under Section 379 and 356 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is in progress.
