PONDA: Two huts were destroyed in fire at Pansamal Codar in Bethora Panchayat on Friday. The huts belonged to the Dhangar community.
On receiving information of fire, Ponda Fire Station personnel rushed to the spot doused the fire. Though the two huts were completely destroyed in the fire, the fire personnel prevented the fire from engulfing other huts in the vicinity.
The loss is estimated at Rs 70,000. Sadly, 12 kids (young ones of goats) which were tied in one of the huts were burnt alive in the incident.
Bethora Sarpanch Sushant Gaonkar confirmed that 12 kids died in the fire incident.
He said that he and the panchayat secretary inspected the site and assured to provide relief.
The destroyed huts belong to Zilo Thako Kavlekar and his son Thako Kavlekar.
The fire broke out when the family members had taken the goats for grazing, leaving the kids behind.
