MAPUSA: Mapusa municipality demolished two illegal stalls near Carvalho petrol pump in the town on Monday, without issuing notice.
One of them was selling fresh chicken. MMC demolished the stalls since they had encroached on the main road.
MMC Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar informed that the municipality has passed a resolution to clear encroachments at the entry point to Mapusa from Parra. To beautify the entry point of Mapusa, the road will be widened by demolishing all the shops. The demolished shops will be shifted to another area,” Kavlekar said.
Kavlekar said that the entry point from Parra is congested due to encroachment by shops and the same is delaying beatification work.
