MARGAO, MARCH 2
Two youngsters were left severely injured after they were gored by a bull at a dhirio near Khadpa Khuris, Benaulim on Tuesday noon.
One of the youngsters was rushed to a Margao-based private hospital and was operated on his leg. Sources in the know said the condition of the youngster is stable.
Incidentally, when the Colva police was contacted for more information on the ugly incident, the men-in-uniform feigned ignorance about the dhirios.
“There’s no report of the dhirio at Benaulim, nor any case is registered against anyone connected with the dhirio”, informed a Colva policeman.
Sources, however, said that the Colva police did make their presence felt at the bull fight venue no sooner the incident happened, but could not lay their hands either on the bulls or the owners for reasons best known to them.
Incidentally, bull fights have been on the rise along Salcete’s coastal belt in recent times. Last week, a He buffalo was left badly injured following a bitter fight at Sernabatim, Colva.
The Colva police later attached the tired and injured buffalo before tying the animal outside the police station for two days, before releasing the same upon orders from the court.
