MARGAO: The United Goans Democratic Party has joined the bandwagon to demand action against Colva police station in-charge, PI Uttam Raut Desai.
A day after social activists demanded transfer of PI Desai , the UGDP demanded immediate action against the police inspector, alleging that the PI has become a protector of criminals and criminal activities. “The PI has been taking the law into his own hands as he acts as a Judge, Jury and the Prosecutor all rolled in one. The citizens of Colva have bitter experiences with the PI who invariably uses foul language against lawyers, complainants and accused alike. The flow of abusive words from his mouth seldom stops, nay the constabulary and other staff under him has become victims of his abuse and oral intimidation. Women complainants are not spared his filthy abuses”, stated UGDP Secretary General Adv Anacleto Viegas.
He said the PI’s couldn’t care less attitude inspite of complaints against him before the State Police Complaint’s Authority has left the residents of Colva helpless and insecure.
“Apparently, the PI has been receiving support from his higher-ups who knowing too well of his crude and uncouth ways have turned a blind eye to his obnoxious and arrogant behaviour”, Anacleto said.
He said the denial to the NGO’s to hold a silent candle light procession to protest against the attack on a social activist is the ultimate act of violation of democratic rights of the people, while urging the IGP to immediately institute disciplinary proceedings against the PI and transfer him for his irresponsible behaviour to a non-public contact posting.
