Tcode of conduct will affect the coming monsoon, as the municipalities and panchayats are unable to float tenders to carry out the pre-monsoon development.
The panchayats and municipality will only work on cutting of trees and desilting of gutters with available funds.
Chief officer of Pernem municipality Mandar Naik said,”Due to the code, the tenders of pre-monsoon development works which are usually floated during March -April, will not be put forward. Other than development work, desilting of gutters, cutting of tress under disaster management will be carried out”.
Arambol Sarpanch Danial Dsouza said,” Desilting of gutters and such minor activities will be carried out by the panchayat through panchayat funds only if the BDO approves. However we have already put tenders but now those tenders cannot be processed due to the code.
Morjim Sarpanch Shanti Poke said,” There are no major pre-monsoon works as such in our planning however the minor pre-monsoon works will be carried out under14th finance grant and Panchayat funds. There were no major works for which tendering is required”.
