PANJIM: Claiming that underground cabling is the only solution to the power woes, Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar on Friday said the State is facing power problems due to the old infrastructure.
“Tata Power Consulting has given the department a report after studying various aspects and has suggested up gradation and new substations in the State and we are installing a new substation in Calangute on priority basis. Similarly works for Saligao substation will be tendered in the next eight days,” Madkaikar said.
He added, “These works should have been done earlier as the old infrastructure cannot take the load and are the reason major issues crop up. Also, we have already started 1000 kms installation of aerial bunch cabling after which there will be fewer problems.”
