PANJIM: Urging the voters to unite in favour of Reginaldo, Vijai Sardesai called upon Fatorda voters not to fall prey for the exclusive politics of certain selfish elements who are perpetual party hoppers and who take stands contrary to public sentiment only for selfish and personal gains.
He was speaking at a corner meeting in Borda in the presence of former Fatorda MLA Alex Luis (Mama) Cardozo, councillor Tito Cardozo and ex-councillor Ramdas Hazare.
Mama Cardozo said that Vijai Sardesai was unjustly treated in the last assembly election when he was denied a ticket by the Congress. But the poor people had united to reject the weak Congress candidate in the Fatorda constituency and supported Vijai for the work he had done for the people of the constituency before evening becoming an MLA. He said it was time to forget the differences of the past and to unite to ensure the victory of the Congress candidate which would mean victory for liberal politics and justice to the ST community, the minority and the underprivileged sections of society. Tito Cardozo condemned the lack of development due to absence of funds to the MMC during the BJP govt tenure. He said the BJP cadre only victimised the poor people for their allegiance to the secular-minded forces. He said it was time that the “anti-people” govt was taught a befitting lesson in this Lok Sabha election and to fully support Reginaldo.
