MARGAO: Goencho Ekvott on Monday called upon the Goans to come together to bring down Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing “destructive projects” to Goa.
Once again emphasising on the power of youth, Goencho Ekvott at its 56th awareness meeting held in Benaulim, said the youth is not just the future but present.
Goencho Avaaz co-convenor Capt Viriato Fernandes said, “In 2013-14 we, the people, were responsible for getting Modi. He was selected as the Prime Ministerial candidate at the BJP meeting held in Taleigao. It is the responsibility of us, Goans, to now bring him down”.
Ministers like Mauvin Godinho and Nilesh Cabral are making statements in favour of the work, he said.
Capt Viriato said he doesn’t want to tell what the MLA of Benaulim did for this issue but urged the people to ask their MLA.
“I am waiting for the people of Benaulim to get your MLA out of his home and office and question him,” he said. “Double tracking is touching Pedda, Benaulim, don’t keep your eyes closed,” Capt Viriato urged.
He informed that Fr Stan Swamy was arrested because he informed the tribals in Jharkhand on how their villages were being destroyed due to rampant mining.
Goencho Ekvott convenor Creson Antao said, “Mapusa meeting had 200 youth marching during the protests and the participation of youth will be the turning point in the agitation to Save Goa. Government will have to listen to us”.
