MAPUSA: United opposition in Mapusa formed a forum under the banner of Mhapshekarancho Ekvot and declared names of 15 candidates who will contest for upcoming municipal elections. Forum claimed that names of remaining five candidates will be declared in next ten days.
They have Baban Kandolkar in ward no. 3, Nalisha Carasco in ward no. 4, Shanshak Subhash Narvekar in ward no. 5, Nutan Bicholkar in ward no. 6, Tarak Arolkar in ward no. 7, Vikas Arolkar in ward no. 8, Satyesh Kandolkar in ward no. 9, Sandeep Mirajkar in ward no. 11, Komal D’Souza in ward no. 13, Mahesh Shirgaonkar in ward no. 14, Vijeta Naik in ward no. 15, Shubhangi Vaingankar in ward no. 16, Viraj Phadke in ward no. 17, Anvi Amey Korgaonkar in ward no. 18 and Sudhir Kandolkar ward no. 19.
Except former chairperson and Congressman Sudhir Kandolkar, all other candidates are new faces that include social activists, youth, businessmen and others.
The united opposition—Congress, MGP, Goa Forward and like-minded people from Mapusa—formed this forum with an aim to resolve the unsolved issues in Mapusa and take forward the development of Mapusa. The candidates include youth, businessmen, doctors and more. The motto of launching this ‘Mhapshekarancho Ekvot’ is to complete major projects especially the incomplete sewerage project, congestion in market, parking, bus stand among others, the forum claimed.
