Chinchinim.
Jeetendra Lotlikar had just opened the shutters of Kamakshi Foreign exchange outlet after the lunch break. It was 3 pm. No sooner Lotlikar made his entry inside, three unsuspecting youngsters followed him inside. While one of them handed over a 10-dollar currency note, the second attacked him on his head, before escaping with booty of Rs 9.5 lakh.
The incident sent shockwaves amongst Chinchinim villagers, who called for immediate detection of the robbery. It’s now 17 days since the robbers struck at the foreign exchange outlet on January 22, 2013, but the Cuncolim police are clueless about the miscreants.
Chinchinim villagers have urged the police to intensify patrolling in the area.
Margao
It was around 7 pm on May 20, 2011, when M A Munaf, owner of Galaxy Fast Track Forex (Goa) Pvt Ltd, headed to the nearby Masjid to offer Namaz. Little did he realise that minutes later, his foreign exchange outlet located just behind the District Collectorate, would be robbed.
The lone robber, who came to the forex outlet to exchange 500 dollars, robbed Rs 1.20 crore from the outlet at knife point, before making good his escape on an Activa Honda scooter. More than a year and half later, Margao police have failed to achieve a breakthrough in this sensational case. Says Munaf “I have been visiting the Margao police station for the last several months, hoping that the police would solve my case, but in vain,” he said. Sources said the police have not made any headway in the case
