Margao Town Police have registered an FIR against a man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly intoxicating and sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel near the Margao Railway Station and extorting more than ₹16 lakh from her.
According to police, the accused allegedly befriended the woman and later took her to a hotel near the railway station, where he is suspected to have intoxicated and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators said the accused allegedly extorted over ₹16 lakh from the victim over a period of time through threats and coercion.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Margao Town Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. Police are currently gathering evidence and recording statements as part of the probe.
Officials said further legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
