PONDA: Ponda Police arrested 43-year-old Ankush Suryakant Gaude from Palwada-Usgao in connection with the alleged murder of 33-year-old Ravindra Shantaram Gaude.
The police suspect that the victim had an illicit relationship with the accused’s wife.
According to police, Ankush on Sunday attacked the Ravindra with koita following which he succumbed to his injuries in GMC on Monday morning. Police registered a murder offence against Ankush and are investigating the case.
Ponda Police disclosed that the incident took place in cashew plantation at Matugal Palawada Usgao at 6.45 pm. Ankush along with his wife had gone to collect cashew apples in his plantation. Ravindra suddenly arrived at the spot in an inebriated condition and both were involved in a heated argument.
Ankush, who suspected Ravindra to have an illicit relationship with his wife, in a fit of anger, attacked and assaulted Ravindra with koita on his head, shoulder and finger due to which he sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to PHC in Usgao and later shifted to GMC.
The team of forensic experts and South Goa SP Arvind Gawas inspected the spot.
PI Suraj Halarnkar conducted the panchanama and is investigating the case under guidance of DySP Nelson Albuquerque.
