BELGAUM: In a determined bid to seek Sri Ram Sene’s (SRS) entry into Goa, SRS Chief Pramod Muthalik has filed a petition with the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court against the ban imposed by the district magistrates of north and south Goa.
The SRS’s petition challenging the ban was filed by Adv Nagesh Sondhe on Wednesday on behalf of Muthalik.
When contacted, Muthalik confirmed that he had filed the petition and said he was determined to enter Goa, as his activists including certain right wing leaders are seeking SRS’s entry into Goa on pretext of conserving the deteriorating Hindu culture there. Meanwhile, as part of its annual practice, the SRS will protest against the Valentine’s Day celebrations in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, where its branches exist.
Terming the celebrations as anti-Hindu culture, the activists will protest in the form of bike rallies and target greeting and gift shops and places where celebrations are held.
“Even today, we strongly oppose the celebration of Valentine’s Day which signifies Western culture and an insult to the rich Indian culture. We will celebrate the day as ‘Mata-Pita Poojan Divas’ (devotion to parents day) and also plan to stage awareness rallies on bikes in different parts of Karnataka,” Muthalik told Herald.
“Our activists will visit every garden, restaurant and other places, where the love birds meet. We will make them understand and even contact the girl’s parents. In case they are adamant, we will call for a priest and get them married,” said Muthalik, while disclosing SRS plans on Valentine’s Day.
Meanwhile, Karnataka police have banned any such rallies by SRS in Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwad, Davangere and other parts of Karnataka, citing that it will pose a threat to law and order situation in the region.
