PANJIM: IAS officer Vandana Rao has been appointed as the new director of the Directorate of education with immediate effect.
Rao was posted to Goa administration on Thursday. In an order issued by Under Secretary Shashank Thakur, Rao will take charge immediately while relieving sitting director Nagraj Honnekeri from the additional charge.
SCERT director Honnekeri was given additional charge of Directorate of Education in January, earlier this year, following Gajanan Bhat’s retirement. IAS officer Hemant Kumar has been appointed IG Prisons. The order comes soon after the High Court pulled up the outgoing IG over the parole issue.
