Varca settles for VP 2 status

Varca village panchayat has settled for VP 2 status for the village as against VP 1 status mooted in the draft Regional Plan 2021.
A gram sabha meeting held on Sunday finalized the Regional Plan after taking into account the suggestions received from the villagers.
The members agreed to call another meeting on the question of mega housing projects, with most villagers opposing mega projects in the village.
Sarpanch Vincentina Fernandes told Herald after the meeting that the gram sabha has agreed to the suggestion of the villagers for VP 2 status for the village.
She said the villagers have called for retaining the sand dunes which have been showed as settlement area in the draft plan.
Members demanded that the bundhs, orchard land and paddy fields which have been shown as settlement area be retained as they are without any changes.
The Sarpanch said suggestions have come from the villagers demanding that the bundhs, sand dunes, orchard land and paddy fields be retained and opposed their conversion to settlement areas.
