MARGAO: Returning Officer for the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency, Mihir Vardhan, declined to comment on allegations by Goa Democratic Front President Dayanand Narvekar that he was allegedly involved in manipulating electronic voting machines in the last elections.
“I have no comments to offer”, was how Vardhan reacted, when the media sought his reaction to Narvekar’s allegation that he was allegedly involved in manipulating EVMs in the last election.
Incidentally, when the media sough to know whether the EVMs that will be used in South Goa constituency will have the paper trail facility introduced by the Election Commission of India, he said his office has not received any instructions in this regard.
When asked why his office has not asked for the EVM paper trail given that allegations of manipulation were galore during the 2012 Assembly polls to defeat Congress candidates, Vardhan said the office of the Chief Electoral Officer will have to take a call on the EVM paper trail facility.
