Pernem: Mayuri Mahesh Tulaskar was elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Varkhand panchayat on Friday. A special meeting was called on Friday at the Panchayat office and since Tulaskar was the only one to file her nomination for the post, the presiding officer Bhiva Thakur declared Tulaskar elected unopposed as the new sarpanch.
It can be recalled that in August 2023, four out of nine panchayat members including deputy sarpanch Vasant Naik had moved no confidence motion against the then sarpanch Gauri Josalkar citing the sarpanch failed to take them into confidence on development works in the village and since then the post of the sarpanch was lying vacant.
