The Vasco ODP was drafted in 2009 and was waiting review since then. As per the Town and Country Planning Act, ODPs have to be reviewed every five years. Alternations to the plan will be undertaken as per Section 39 of the TCP Act.
Chief Town Planner Dr S T Puttaraju said the government is of the view that it is necessary to undertake alterations/additions to the Vasco ODP as there are zones which are wrongly marked and need correction.
The changes or rectification of the provisions of ODP will be taken up on the basis of any court judgment with specific directions; other court directions, including quasi-judicial matters (read mamlatdar), or personal complaints, such as cases under Mundcarial (Protection from Eviction) Act, 1975, Agricultural Tenancy Act, Land Use Regulations Act, 1991 etc. Minor alterations or changes in alignment of the road ‘where condition warrant such changes and deletion of roads on special circumstances when construction of such roads is not practically feasible could be taken up on public interest’.
TCP had earlier this month directed North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) to keep ODPs of Taleigao, Mapusa and Panjim-Raj Bhavan jurisdiction, open for review.
