VASCO: The 121st annual  in Vasco concluded on Monday in a non-conventional way this year taking all the precautionary measures against COVID pandemic and looking at the deaths and spike of positive cases in the Mormugao Taluka.

The Utsav Committee members and devotees offered prayers to Shree Lord Damodar on both days and seek his divine intervention to control the pandemic.

Unlike every year, the celebration strictly followed the Standard operating procedure (SOP) by forbidding large gathering of the devotees, which usually flock in the port town.

This year it was made clear by the manager of Shree Lord Damodar Temple that nobody except the few members of the Utsav Committee will be allowed in the Temple Committee due to ongoing pandemic. There were barricades and police personnel stationed outside the temple.

Speaking to the media persons, Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said, “It is a miracle to see the rain showers on Monday on the day of concluding ceremony of annual Bhajani Saptah this year.”

Raut further mentioned that he prayed to Shree Lord Damodar to shower his blessings over the Vasco residents and also to ward off the COVID pandemic from Vasco.

Later in the day, few Damodar Bhajani Saptah members were present for the concluding ceremony. Few Utsav Committee members took the installed Shreephal (Sacred Coconut) and immersed.
