The South Goa Sessions Court on Friday held guilty a 34-year-old woman from Vasco Lalita Nepali (34) in connection with the death of 24 year old Madhavi Devonar at the Salgaocar Medical Research Centre, Chicalim two years ago.
In his order convicting the accused, Additional Sessions Judge P V Kamat held accused Lalita for the offense of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
In this case, the Vasco police had charged Nepali for the murder of Madhavi at the Chicalim centre while the latter was undergoing treatment. The police had alleged that the accused assaulted the deceased with a knife and later inflicted self injuries in a bid to commit suicide.
The prosecution led by Public Prosecutor Pramod Hede examined around 25 witnesses in support of its case. The accused will now be heard on the point of sentence on Monday.
