VASCO: A 27-year-old woman voter, Pritam Ramesh Mandrekar, a resident of Gopal Krishna temple Mundvel, Vasco, has accused the local Booth Level Officer (BLO) for deleting her name from the voters list over some personal enmity with her due to which she was unable to cast her vote on Saturday.
According to Mandrekar, her local BLO (name withheld) who is her neighbour has some previous enmity with her and thus using his position he allegedly deleted her name.
“I was surprised to know that my name is missing from electoral roll and when I tried to inquire from the BLO he started giving me vague reply. I was more shocked know that a woman from my neighbourhood who died some years ago, her name is still existing in voters list. Similarly, the BLO’s own daughter who got married some years ago and has shifted to her in-laws place, but her name is still existing in local voter list but my name has been removed with the claims that I got married in the month of October 2016 and thus my name was deleted. Despite having the eligibility, today I am not able to vote and elect my candidate because my name was deliberately deleted,” she told Herald.
Meanwhile, when Herald reported the matter to Returning Officer Vasco constituency Snehal Prabhu, she assured that she would conduct an inquiry into the matter and would issue show cause notice to BLO seeking reply from him.
