BICHOLIM: The residents of Vathadev, Bicholim locked down the entire village and forced a suspected coronavirus patient with a travel history, to immediately the get herself checked at the Primary Health Centre.
It is learnt that the lady, who was working abroad, had recently visited Vathadev and on receiving this information, the news of her visit spread in the village causing panic among the people. A panch went to her house and persuaded her to visit the PHC immediately.
A tense situation prevailed in the village, which forced the villagers to lock down the entire village. They restricted the entry and exit of the people from the village. Huge stones were kept on the road and later the area was blocked to prevent people from entering and exiting the village.
The people contacted the police about the incident. However, there was further anxiety among the people when the PHC quarantined the lady in her house by stamping her hand.
The villagers questioned why she was not put into isolation despite she being a possible threat to the villagers.
Finally, Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit asked the villagers to contact 104 helpline.
