Vedanta signs MoU with govt for youth skill development

PANJIM: Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) for the promotion of skill development programme under the Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme, which is in line with Central government Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme. 

Vedanta Sesa Goa joined in Goa government’s endeavour to create skill development opportunities for around 2,500 Goan youths per annum helping them to hone up their skills for employability. 

The MoU with the GHRDC was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant whereas GHRDC Managing Director Narayan Navti and Vedanta Iron Ore Business Chief Human Resource Officer Praveen George signed the MoU for respective organisations. 

Vedanta’s senior HR executives Ashok Kharbe and company’s VAB Chief Human Resource Officer Joy Afonso were also present during the MoU exchange ceremony. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant appreciated the GHRDC and industrial establishments and said, “I congratulate Vedanta, Cipla, Colorcon and all other renowned industries in the State for signing MoU with the GHRDC under the Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme. This programme will benefit 2,500 youth from Goa every year and will help them to upgrade their skills for employability.”

Vedanta Limited Iron and Steel Business Chief Executive Officer Sauvick Mazumdar quoted, “We are extremely pleased to partner with the Goa government to further promote skill development through Goa CM’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme”.
