CANACONA: After days and weeks of continues downpour, rain has subsided in Canacona like rest of the State since last week but the rate at which vehicles meeting with mishaps between Balli and Polem have not shown any lesser frequency, as the two loaded trucks skidded off the road recently at two different places, fortunately there were no casualties reported.
Sources said that the driver of a multiaxle truck with registration number HR-55-M-6773 carrying wooden chips as fuel for an industrial unit in Verna while giving way to another oncoming vehicle lost its control on and collapsed on one side onto the crash barrier at Bhatpal.
In another accident, the driver of a truck (KA-22-D-1926) carrying ore from Goa to Karnataka lost control over his multiaxle truck while negotiating a sharp turn before reaching Padi.
Eyewitnesses told Herald that the truck driver unable to keep his vehicle on the left lane reached the extreme side of the other lane, while trying to bring his vehicle back to the left lane he lost control over the truck eventually landing in a road side valley. All the ore and broken glass pieces were found strewn on the road which were later cleared.
